As a physical therapist who has been involved in resident care at Watercrest Assisted Living since it's opening, I have had the opportunity to witness the facility grow in meaningful ways. While the facility has always been committed to providing quality care, the improvements that have taken place under the leadership of the current Executive Director, Larissa Kostal have been transformative. Aside from the enhanced coordination among her care teams, Larissa is attuned and highly responsive to the needs of her residents. When a need for more seating outside the front of the facility was identified, Larissa followed up and within a day there were benches with decorative pillows set up in front of the building. I enjoy seeing the residents sitting on the benches either relaxing in the sun, waiting to be picked up by a loved one, socializing, or just people watching. This is only one example of the level of attentiveness that has been fostered under the current leadership, which has had a positive impact on the quality of life for the residents. The commitment to continuous improvement makes this facility stand out as a leader in senior living communities.

My parents live in the memory care part of Watercrest. It was a very difficult time for our family when we had to make this decision, especially since it was both my parents. However, the first person I communicated with was Ingrid. She had a way about her that made me feel comfortable and she made me laugh, as she always does. I asked her so many questions and she answered everyone. Then we met the director Larissa! I cannot say enough about her. You would expect her to be in her office a lot. But NO! On a typical day you would probably not be able to pick her out because at Watercrest it is all hands on deck! They work as a team, from the admin staff to the caregivers. Everyone is there for one reason, to care for our loved ones needs. And that includes making them feel loved. My mom loves to hug everyone and the staff hugs her right back. She also has some special needs so Rachael the memory care director will have coffee with her each morning. This is what they do. Rachael told me she took the job because she got to work with the residents, not just sit in her office. Tammy the med tech has been a God send to us. She is so good with my parents. One day I came to pick up my mom to go to church and Michela was putting makeup on my mom. They love to do the extras. The staff at the front desk is always friendly and helpful. Let’s talk about the food! The chef is amazing. She even was a pastry chef so don’t miss the once a month themed brunches! The wait staff is kind and patient with the residents. Lastly, they care about the families. They know how hard this can be . They even check in to see how I am. If you are having to make this kind of decision, check out Watercrest, you won’t be disappointed. I would like to add more to my review. A ray of sunshine has come to Watercrest! Her name is Lauren Adams, the new Lifestyle Director. She works with all residents. Her new exercise class is amazing. I actually took it with my mom. It was so good for her. The last couple times I came to visit Lauren was either setting up for an activity, running an exercise class or collaborating with colleagues. I am really excited for the residents!

It is very nice but costly as many nice senior communities are. I am not old or frail enough to fit in here yet. It's very beautiful for those who are. Note there is a small pool for exercise but no pool for swimming. Landscaping is a real plus. Tour guide Ingrid was very nice and informative.

This was our second visit to Watercrest Myrtle Beach. Both visits have been very informative and we were able to bring my mother down this second time for a visit. We are ready to have her become part of the Watercrest family starting in the new year. So excited for this next chapter for my mom since my dad recently passed. She will have so many great things to participate in at Watercrest.
