I’ve worked in this facility as a private caregiver since Harbour Chase which was an amazing experience with the higher up staff and all caregivers.. Today working with the new higher up staff and some new caregivers of the new owner which now is called Harrison of Stuart.. I was disrespected by the head director of the facility Jerry calling me names her words “I look like a slob sitting here” in front of all the staff and residents here. This is very disgusting behavior coming from a higher up director, who’s suppose to be professional when handling caregivers for the facility and outside caregivers. Jerry was very rude coming at me in such a distasteful manner.. She should be fired for her unprofessionalism at The Harrison of Stuart.. I am here 5 days a week, days shift and night shift.. I’ve never been disrespectful to anyone here, I’m always willing to help out when staff are doing other things with residents, down to even helping setup the dining area for lunch/dinner. I respect all staff, caregivers and residents at this facility since day one of me working privately with my client here. It’s been over a year I’ve been here with my client and I’ve never had any issues or complaints about the care I provide for my client..

Harbor Chase . . . Do your homework before signing on the dotted line! Our father had been self-sufficient up until a fall robbed him of that luxury in late 2023 and we looked at options in the Stuart area. I will admit that the sales staff at Harbor Chase are first-rate in pitching all they have to offer and touted the amenities, dining options and attentive staff during the tour. The first few months were positive but as soon as Dad started to fall and need more attention, things went south in a hurry. The standard response when we asked for assistance being located 1,000+- miles away was “we are understaffed” or “the nursing director is out doing assessments”. If staffing is an issue, possibly stop looking for new residents and take care of the ones you have. We were forced to hire private nurses which added to the ever-increasing charges associated with Harbor Chase to ensure our father was receiving the care he needed and more importantly deserved. And the cost which we had thought was well-defined turned out to be the tip of the iceberg. Want help getting meds, add more to the monthly bill. Want someone to assist in basic care, add another charge. Want anything and there is an additional charge. Even when he passed away, we were given no grace period to move his things out and were charged from Day #1 onwards until we were able to get down and move his possessions out. Harbor Chase provides a $750 / month meal allotment you can use as you want but the kicker is it does not carry over if not used (our father was spending $250 in meals and the remaining $500 was lost) or applied to meals for visiting family members or even the nurses we had to hire to ensure he received the care he needed. A shuttle bus is provided but you better make sure any appointment does not conflict with outings which are typically three days a week and no transportation is provided on the weekend. Harbor Chase will provide recommendations for services but if you do your own research, it seems that you can always find the same service for less which begs the question are their referrals being compensated for. As the end approached, we opted to engage Hospice and found out there were two in the area – one non-profit and one for-profit. Of course, Harbor Chase recommended the for-profit company and thankfully we opted for the one with the better reputation as our father’s final weeks were handled with dignity and comfort thanks to Treasure Coast Hospice and the private nurses we hired. Overall, if you are looking for a “Senior Love Boat” facility that does not require assistance from the staff and plays up the glitz a new facility provides, keep Harbor Chase on your list. However, if you are looking for a family member and do not live locally or have someone that may need more than a room and planned activities, do your homework and try to talk to some of the residents BEFORE you sign up and winding up with a case of buyer’s remorse when things do not work out as promised. There are some dedicated staff members at Harbor Chase but being overworked only goes so far. If we had to do it again, we would have looked at other options as Harbor Chase is not a place we can recommend to others going through what we did.

I can’t say enough good things about Harbor Chase. It is truly a wonderful place! My grandma loves the food from Chef Rachel and the activities with Meghan and her team. The staff is attentive and supportive all know her by name. It’s great to know that my grandma is in good hands at Harbor Chase.

Without a doubt, I recommend HarborChase of Stuart for anyone looking for a supportive, interactive, and knowledgable staff for their parent needing memory care. Every staff member I have interacted with from sales staff, nursing care, administrative, and housekeeping has been kind, thoughtful and always willing to help. They are engaging and interactive with my mom, and she is thriving there. I've been calling HarborChase the summer camp my mom never attended when she was young. Each day there are at least 8 activities including movement, trivia, art, and discussions. Memory care is a large space with a dedicated patio so they have a change of scenery. There is plenty of staff, all of who are well trained and highly engaged with the residents. After just a few days of being there I asked my mom if she was having fun. As a woman never afraid to voice her opinion, she said, "Yes! I'm definitely liking it here."
