Care
Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing and nursing homes are residential facilities that offer medical care and support for individuals that require a higher level of medical attention and assistance. These are staffed by licensed healthcare providers and offer a range of services to ensure the well-being and comfort of residents.

At one point, I would have rated this facility highly for the care and attention given to my mom. It all changed when Mr. Rob Newman came in to the facility. My mom was in a private room covered by Medicaid/Medicare, with the remaining costs paid out-of-pocket. Out of nowhere, I was informed that the Medicaid/Medicare payment structure was changing, causing our out-of-pocket costs to increase significantly. We couldn't afford the new cost, so they moved my mom almost immediately. There was no advance notice, which was distressing for my mom, who was already suffering from a recent hip fracture and dementia. I contacted Stellar Living corporate office, and they mentioned the price change was inaccurate. Our out-of-pocket cost wouldn't be as high as initially thought. I relayed this to Skyline's director, Mr. Newman, who promised to confirm this information and get back to me. However, despite leaving multiple voicemails and emails, I received no response. Later, the social services staff informed me my mom would have to be placed on a waiting list for a private room, which was deeply unsettling for her. A couple of months passed, and as my mom was about to be moved to a new private room, I was again informed of a substantial increase in room rates. This meant I had to tell my mom she wouldn't be moving to a private room, which was devastating news for her. Despite multiple attempts to reach out to Mr. Newman, I received no response. My mom then suffered a brain bleed and was hospitalized. Upon her return to Skyline on hospice care, I encountered a nurse who was resistant to giving my mom the prescribed comfort care. This nurse insisted on my mom's explicit requests for medication, which she couldn't make due to her condition. Other nurses provided proper care, but I feared the resistant nurse's defensiveness and reluctance to administer the needed medication. My cousin, who came to help, also noticed the nurse's issues. We demanded changes and social services staff willingly helped, and my mom was eventually moved to a private room with different nurses who provided excellent care. There, my mom was finally given the amazing care she deserved and passed approximately one week later. All during this time the nurse continued working her shift as normal. To my knowledge this nurse is still employed with Skyline and supposedly “caring” for the residents. I worry about the other residents and wonder who else she is treating like this. There are many residents who don’t have family members or loved ones to advocate for them and be their voice and protect them. Our loved ones deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and kindness, especially at this point in their life. This is also an extremely tough time for family members and we deserve respect and kindness which we were not given by this nurse. Stellar Living and Mr. Newman must address these issues to prevent future residents from suffering the same fate.

Mom has been in Skyline Ridge now for 10 months. I would rate our experience as excellent. The facility is clean and well maintained, the food has been good and served hot and the nursing staff have been kind and loving. Overall we are very happy with Skyline Ridge.

Skyline has been a good building up to the last yr and half when stellar bought it and new administrator . The cowardly actions of management firing staff with long jevity there is appalling and apparently they can fire anyone with no reason and only a email to state their termination . Obviously patient care and safety isn’t their priority only the all mighty dollar especially if corporate can pay in full three cruises for administrator and family this year alone. The residents deserve better than this skyline deserves better as well and obviously corporate is allowing this behavior from management good luck Also most of their reviews are from past or current employees

This use to be a wonderful place for your loved ones. The nurses still do an outstanding job. It’s the new management that has screwed up everything especially in the apartment area next to Skyline! They have taken away all the perks these older people loved and enjoyed. He is firing people left and right and there is little no maintenance being done. I think Stellar needs to open their eyes and see exactly what is going on! Seems they just want someone in charge of cutting costs and not the residents.
