Overview

When you begin to search for a safe place for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, you want to be assured that they will get the help they need to stay active and engaged with the world around them. Finding the right combination of care is crucial for their quality of life, and for your peace of mind.

Reflections at Garden Place, in Columbia, Illinois, is Monroe County’s first memory-supported assisted living community. Navigating the journey of dementia care can seem daunting. We feel passionately that no family should navigate that journey alone. We are especially proud of the standard of care provided by the staff. Caring for older adults with memory loss is more than just daily assistance with physical activities; we strive to be a hand to hold and a shoulder to lean on. Providing care for our residents is a privilege.

With just 19 private apartments, Reflections at Garden Place has a cozy, family-like atmosphere where residents can enjoy television, crafts, and exercise, or maybe just relax and enjoy the changing seasons from the sunroom or the secured patio. And with a convenient location, less than 10 miles from South County Center in St. Louis, our residents even get a little “retail therapy” as part of our regular outings. This place and the staff are absolutely amazing. If you’re looking for a place for your loved one to live and you can be at ease - this is your place. The staff here are all well-trained on Dementia, allowing them to safely and knowledgeably care for your family member. Each resident has their own private room equipped with their own bathroom. The common area is a great place where residents gather and watch old westerns, and listen to live music. On sunny days, you can catch the residents all outside with their sun hats and sun glasses enjoying the afternoon. Reflections truly is a family environment and it’s evident in every one who works there that their heart is in this job. - Ashley Conway

The small size of this memory care allows the residents and caregivers to become like family. The memory care is set-up in a cozy home-like environment with a central living room and dining room, but private bedrooms. Staff to resident ratios are low allowing great care and attention to each resident here. It is showing how the staff truly care for the residents and are educated in how to treat Dementia and behaviors associated with Dementia in an appropriate, calm, and sometimes even creative manner. I would highly recommend for quality care for a loved one with Dementia.

My father stayed at Reflections at Garden Place in Columbia, IL for about four years. They treated him like he was part of their family. In the years he was there, we never once had any doubts that he was in good hands.

My mother resided there for around four years and me and my sisters loved having her there. Everyone who works there is so nice and friendly. They go above and beyond for all the residents. Even spending their own money for gifts for the residents. We would give the facility more than five stars if we could!
