My parents were among the first residents when Morningside opened. They were young (early 60’s) and it was the best decision they ever made. My dad lived to go through assisted living and skilled nursing. Every single day was a positive experience. It was like resort living. They loved it. The employees really are like family. They hire the best of the best! The dining areas are beautiful and the food is delicious! Every single thing about Morningside is fabulous. So much so that my sister moved in as soon as she became old enough a couple of years ago. The entire place is spotless and every employee is friendly and welcoming.

I live in the Bay Area, my sister lives in Los Angeles, and my parents live in Brea. Identifying a suitable retirement community for my 86 y.o. father and 80 y.o. mother felt daunting and overwhelming, especially since English isn't their first language and communication can be a challenge for them. We started our search in December 2022 and visited 4-5 facilities including Belmont Village Senior Living (Westwood), Capriana (Brea), Emerald Court (Anaheim), and a few others that aren't worth mentioning. Morningside was the last facility we visited and after our first visit to Morningside in early February 2023, we felt like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We immediately felt like we found the perfect community for my parents! Since then, we've spoken to and met numerous residents (and their adult children), enjoyed numerous lunches/dinners onsite (the food ranges from good to excellent and that's coming from a major foodie!), attended a lecture on downsizing and selling a home, and toured Park Vista (on-site skilled nursing, assisted-living and memory care units). I'm an uber researcher and you can be sure I did my due diligence for something so important as the care and welfare of my parents whom I adore! I asked endless questions of Taz (our initial contact at Morningside) and Monica (who took over for Taz after her departure). We had such a positive experience with Taz that we were fearful of what might happen after she left. Thankfully, Monica turned out to be a total sweetheart and we've really enjoyed working with her! She handled the transition seamlessly. Truly everyone we've met to date seem to genuinely care about the residents in their care. The workers we've observed throughout the community at both Morningside and Park Vista appear happy in their jobs! They are very kind, respectful and patient with the residents. My parents joined the waitlist for a 2BR/2BA unit in March 2023 with a target move-in date of spring 2024. They could have probably moved in this year, but they aren't ready to leave their home of 21+ years just yet... We encountered absolutely no hard sale, and absolutely no pressure to enter into an immediate contract unlike some facilities we've visited in the Bay Area for my mother-in-law. Also, you know it's a great place when the scent of Clorox doesn't hit you in the face whenever entering a building! For anyone hesitant about scheduling a visit, I encourage you to give Monica (residency counselor) a call. My sister and I were beyond picky in selecting a suitable home for my parents and so far, Morningside has met and often exceeded our very high expectations!

This is a place where you can keep as busy/active as you want. I find this is conducive toward keeping healthy and happy. I originally felt my move here was because for security, but it is so much more than that. I've found there are many volunteering activities available, so I don't really have a whole lot of "free" time. Everything is so interesting, I find it hard to say "no". I have lived a relatively colorful and outgoing life, so I am very comfortable here. Getting to know and actively interact with our family here is a great adventure. What do I consider exciting about the future? I am always thinking, "What's next?" Every day is a gift - and another opportunity to enjoy sharing. I love to entertain and see people laugh, with me or at me. I have made so many friends, and almost all of them have a story or ability that contributes to the "feel good" atmosphere of this "Garden of Eden". Your first and lasting impression will be that you are on a grand cruise, so what are you waiting for..."All aboard".

Great place for retirement provided you have the means to pay for it. Not everyone will be able to afford to live here because of the prohibitive cost. The place is really like a resort with all the amenities and daily scheduled activities. The food they served us at the "open house" seems to be really suited for seniors. I will consider this place for our retirement plans.
