After researching and visiting a number of Senior Living Communities over a year's time, my Mom experienced a 3-day 'staycation' at Discovery Village Boynton Beach. It was a fantastic experience for Mom, and reinforced the sense of community, the caring people that live and work there. After much emotional conflicts and overcoming several fears, Mom moved into Discovery Village last week. The leadership and management team are fantastic human beings, knowledgeable, caring professionals who want the best for the residents and the community, and provided wonderful and thoughtful guidance along the way. And they are hands on throughout, not just for the sale - they care about the people and they wear that caring on their sleeves - they are exceptional. Those that staff the front desk and maintenance are also fantastic, caring people, who work tirelessly and with thoughtfulness and experience to help with Mom's transition. With strong recommendation from the Management team, we hired A Time to Move to pack and unpack Mom's apartment and to manage her move - this was an unbelievably excellent decision and experience, and well worth the cost. Mom, nor I, had to do anything - her entire apartment was packed up AND unpacked, to the smallest detail and item. This not only relieved a LOT of work, it absolutely relieved us of the emotional and psychological mountain of fear associated with the actual, physical move. And no small detail was left to chance. Everything was unpacked, and all art hung, and all items organized flawlessly. Discovery residents volunteer to be "ambassadors" who help new residents to get acquainted, acclimated, and adjusted - they are wonderful!! I met some of them in person and felt privileged and grateful that other residents are so caring and helpful, and genuinely wish to help Mom feel welcomed and help her to adjust into a new environment and community of people. I cannot convey sufficiently just how exceptional the experience has been - it is about the people - their dedication, their caring, their heart-felt thoughtfulness and being pleasant, patient, interested, and kind. Both the staff and the residents. I highly and strongly recommend Discovery Village - and the food and food service is Michelin level care and attention, the 2 bedroom apartment Mom moved into is beautiful and spacious with a lovely terrace, and the grounds and facility is top notch - but THE most important recommendation is about the people - the staff and the residents. They are truly exceptional.

The services and food have dove to unacceptable levels. I was just stuck in the 2nd floor south laundry room for a half an hour with nobody answering the safety alarm and getting a message when I called the Front Desk for help that said, “This customer has not yet set up their voice mail box yet. Try again later.” Luckily I finally found a wire hanger in the floor under a washer and got the door open. After trying to call the Front Desk again (it is supposed to have someone there) and getting the same less-than-useful message, I got a screwdriver and removed the broken doorknobs and bolt and threw them in the trash! What would have happened if an older, more feeble or less mentally fit or handy resident got trapped in there next? It could have happened to any of the friends I’ve made here! I’m pretty damned sure we will not be renewing our lease here!

Went to Discovery Village when I thought my mom would need to move from independent living to assisted living. I checked out a couple of places but this one stood out as clean and the apartments were nice. I met with Anecia Cowell and she spent a good amount of time explaining what type of care my mom could receive there. She was thorough and told me what I needed to know. It was exactly what I was looking for and was ready to move her in. Unfortunately mom passed away and never had the opportunity to move in.

I recently visited Discovery in Boynton Beach while searching for the right place for my mother. I met with Elisa and she was extremely knowledgeable, curious, and generous with her time. The facility is beautiful and definitely on our short list.
