Our family is so pleased with the care my father-in-law is receiving at Commonwealth. His every need is being well met. This includes a clean facility, delicious and healthy meals, and a caring staff.

I think I could write a book on the reasons to keep your loved ones out of memory care in this "facility." First and foremost, the patients in memory care are exploited for financial gain. Patients are assessed points on their deterioration which equals a monthly price increase in addition to the already yearly price increases. I questioned these additional care dollars/assessment while my mother was in memory care. Of course, the price increased but without additional care that the Administrator and Director of Nursing said she was receiving. Regardless of what the reply will be to this review, she wasn't. As a matter of fact, the longer she was there, the worse it got. One of the reasons admin. said that she scored higher on her last assessment was the Director of Nursing, overheard mom say she wanted to go home. Yes, that does qualify in an assessment as a point increase! Tell me a patient in memory care who doesn't want to go home! That is what the majority of dementia patients express! Also, the fact that they said mom had turned the door knob to the exit of memory care wing, showed she was a flight risk! The doors require a number combination to get out. I can't tell you the times that I have left there and multiple patients are lined up wanting out but no additional staff was added or was there any staff @ the door. Obviously they have no confidence in their ability to secure memory care! Additional care? There were times that mom would be in the same clothes for a couple of days, dried food on her shirts, etc. Let me say this, there are a couple of good staff members on the floor but admin. is most rude and unprofessional...and their were others in the meeting that shared afterwards their disbelief in the rude, sarcastic, demeaning behavior. If you have a loved one already there, question everything little thing from billing to food to care and so on. Remember, there is a representative from Social Services(ombudsman)that will be an advocate for your loved one should you feel the need to have an extra set of ears. I did. CSL does not prioritize patient care over the dollar. It is totally a money grab. BTW, one can also look up online the State audits for this facility and others. There is a common denominator. I actually had some of the CSL staff tell me it would be best if mom was in another facility due to the attitude and lack of concern from admin. for the patients. It made me remember that during the initial consult, the recruiter said there was a high turnover rate w/aides on the floor. I see why now. I took mom out of the facility after just a few months and felt a sense of relief. Friend and family care was best for us as it was ridiculous to be paying for care and having to go behind CSL to see if mom was being cared for as promised. I'm sure there will be a response to this review w/excuses, he said/she said, etc. and that's ok as I will be more than glad to talk to corporate. Regardless, CSL staff and others have seen first hand the incompetence of Cedar Bluff CSL. There are more negative experiences and reasons but I'll stop here.

I am very pleased so far with the care my Mother is receiving, she just moved in a week ago. Ryan and Ethan were wonderful in helping on move in day. They both jumped right in and helped get things moved in to her room and got her curtains and TV put up right away. The staff have been very pleasant and easy to work with.
