Brentwood at Elkhart Assisted Living

This is the first time I have written a review for Brentwood Assisted Living in Elkhart and I am compelled to do so due to a recent review that was brought to my attention. Both of my parents have had the privilege to live here: my Mother, 8 years; my Dad, going on 14 years. I have had plenty of opportunities to assess both the building and the employees. Management has changed multiple times during this period, however there is one constant: the dedication of the entire staff to their residents. Whether it be the nurses, the maintenance, the kitchen, the activities or the housekeeping personnel, they support each other to provide the best care possible, and it shows. THANK YOU!

We’ve had four members of our family live at Brentwood assisted-living. One parent passed away last year after living there for eight years and another parent is still there after living there for 13+ years. We have seen multiple mgmt companies and executive directors come and go, but the one consistent thing has been the majority of the nursing staff (with the lead of Jeanne & Barb) as well as key positions, who have worked there for many years. They exhibit incredible warmth and compassion and this is across multiple positions, including the receptionist, social activities staff, the dining room, maintenance and cleaning gals. Of course, there's always new hires and if they're not a good fit they are gone sooner or later. Another example of thoughtfulness is when some of the staff showed up at our mother’s celebration of life. It's the long-term staff that have been the glue for this facility. I am incredibly grateful for the staff and facilities at Brentwood assisted living in Elkhart and I recommend it highly. Jenni B.

No clue how this building has 5 stars. HAS to be paid reviews. I’m surprised the state hasn’t had more visits here. Pray to god your family member is on a “level” of care here as well because if not, well, you’ll find out. Also not sure how this place is garnishing in the “best work place” on Indeed it has a solid 2.2 star rating. Between toxic employees here, and very poor management I’d look elsewhere. Do not let these fake reviews blind you. To add to Cecil’s review: Staff are extremely toxic in this building. Management has ZERO control. I can also confirm all 5 star reviews are from employees or formal. Do not let this place fool you! RUN, Don’t walk. I also see the DON was let go or quit! This place has zero back bone.

Place is nice looking but as soon as you walk in they have horrible staff who do not care about the residents. Their CNAs will tell residents that “they don't pay for that care plan” so they wont help them. They have employees who have been investigated for abuse multiple times and nothing is done they just kick that certain employee out of the residents apartment! The employees are toxic they cover up behind each other’s mistakes. Half the time the nurses are outside smoking their 10th cigarette of the day by 8am. They are all nice and smiles when they are in your face but do not let them fool you! If I could give zero stars I would. BTW all those 5 star reviews from staff were put to be able to win a basket a few months ago go figure!
