Overview
If you think there’s not much going on in a senior living community, you’ve never been to Bickford. Imagine your loved one enjoying delicious, scratch-made meals, having a friendly caregiver always nearby, and a calendar chock-full of social activities. Our family of caregivers will do whatever it takes to make sure your loved one is living their best life possible.
That includes our nationally recognized HigherPath senior health model. Think of it as your loved one's safety net — a proactive care team that's all about helping them live happier, healthier — longer. Oh and did we mention our resident happiness ratings are double the industry average?

Care
Assisted Living
A living option for seniors or individuals who require assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, or medication management while maintaining a level of independence. Assisted living facilities offer personalized care plans and social activities that promote quality of life for their residents.
Memory Care
Memory care communities offer specialized care and support for individuals dealing with memory-related conditions, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. These facilities are equipped with trained staff and offer engaging activities designed to promote well-being while ensuring a safe living environment.
Respite Care
Respite care is short-term or temporary care. Respite care can be provided in adult day centers, in private homes via home health agencies and in senior living communities, most often assisted living or skilled nursing facilities.
Neighborhood
Pulling from a variety of reliable data sources, Walk Score® measures the walkability of any address, helping you understand how easy it is to live a car-free lifestyle. Transit Score®, when available, measures how well a location is served by public transit. Scores range from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating more amenities within walking distance and diverse transit options nearby.

Our experience with most of the caregivers has been excellent. The best days of the week are Wed-Sat when Jennifer Z the activity caregiver is working. She makes every resident feel special and loved, finding activities that they each like!! She is the shining star at Mary B’s in Portage!! There are many growing pains with the new administration currently. I do not feel like I am being heard all of the time. As per Bickford policy, our family members should have activities every day for 6+ hours. Unfortunately when Jennifer Z is not there the TV is on and that is the activity!

Was supposed to start here but the executive director gave me the run around until I called her out on her BS then I was no longer eligible for employment, Brandy Mcweathy is a horrible Director and needs to not be in charge, it’s to overwhelming for her obviously, had my interview on July 22 and I had to chase her around for months to get my fingerprints scheduled and those were all unsuccessfull each time due to her not knowing which code had already been used for the payment of the fingerprints even after I wasted gas a drive to Battle Creek, Brandy Mcweathy needs to be fired immediately

Since my grandmother move here from Brookdale the care has been exceptional! I know she was nervous for the move. However, she is more active and involved in activities than she has ever been. I can’t say enough about Erin as the activities director! The Director sends weekly update emails and keeps all of us well informed. The nursing staff has made medication adjustments that have helped her so much. We are so happy to see her smiling again!

I went on a tour with the most compassionate, friendly, Bickford employee. She took the time to listen to my concerns and patiently answered all my questions and then some. I feel so comfortable with the thought of my loved one becoming at resident when the time comes.
