Asher Point Independent Living of Tyler

Basically the staff is friendly. I believe food served is not done on nutritional guidelines for seniors. There are lots of senior activities to keep us busy with our minds. We play games and I've made new friends. Outside scenery is beautiful. They gave me balloons for my birthday. Being renovated. Under new management.

Their elevators have been out 5 times in the last few months essentially stranding our family member to their upstairs apartment because they cannot walk downstairs. It’s been a week with no progress in fixing it. We’ve been assured many times they are working on it but they also told us they are not “legally” required to have it functioning. That may be true but how can you ethically operate a senior living facility without providing a safe way for them to leave? Keep in mind the dining room is downstairs and the apts are not equipped with a full kitchen to prepare meals. Our family member has missed a doctor’s appt and it looks like they will continue to miss out on church, grocery shopping, family gatherings, doctor’s appts and warm meals in the dining room until this is fixed.

We started our search for a retirement living community in Tyler. We visited several centers and Chaka and Dusti along with the welcoming residents, quickly let us know where we wanted our loved one. The beautiful newly remodeled facility gives a light, airy, uplifting, feeling that I know creates a positive attitude in the residents. The layout that connects the different activity areas that overlook the balcony to the atrium and dining room provide an inclusive atmosphere. If you were in the exercise room, library, putting together a puzzle, sitting in the living area or the game room you aren’t closed off. The dining tables are set with detail for each meal creating a sense of importance for each resident as they enter. I could say more about the facility, but The real reason for choosing Asher was the employees. Friendly, quick to respond, hard-working, positive, caring toward the residents, quick intelligent answers to our many questions and patience with us, let us know that we wanted Chaka, Dusti and the other friendly employees caring for Laura. You really can’t put a price on the feeling of peace, however Asher receives five stars from us. Chuck and DeLisa
