After talking to several facilities we realized we could not afford a long-term care facility. We gave one last look at American House. We met with Margaret Powers, who was very nice. We were very forthright on what we thought we could afford and we weren’t able to make it happen. A few days later, Margaret followed up with us and after talking it over she suggested that she believe they could work something out if I was willing. So after some discussion we signed. Margaret all I have to say to you and whoever approved the decision - you were our angels that day. And frankly on several other days as well. Margaret was always there for a phone call, or knock on her office door. The burden that was lifted from us was enormous - the gift of better care that our loved one was going to get at the facility than would give at home was a pure blessing from God. The place was always clean. The people were always great. Now let’s be real for a minute - did we see some staff that didn’t like their job? Yep. Were there some times when some staff needed to be replaced - yep. Was there abuse - nope, was there neglect - nope. Was it all Rose - nope, but as far as we were concerned it was. We never had to speak to management about problem staff, those people did not last long and in came new staff. Margaret Powers - Community Relation's Director Margaret, the magic you worked, your help with the contract and renewals, helping me navigate such a difficult time in our lives gave us back some very important things like: Sleep The ability to go to work and be able to focus on the Job and not the needs of the loved one. Peace at home so the 7 year old was not afraid be cause “Pop” was in so much pain. Quality time with Pop - we would not have gotten when caring for him at home. Courtney Hartsock - Business Office Manager Courtney - you were always kind, ready to help and there with answers when needed - thank you! Kacie Briden - Memory Care Director Kacie - you took our “Pop” to doctor’s appointments when we could not. Help me care for him in the bathroom when there was no way I could do it on my own. There were several Nurses and one I don’t have the name. Beth - thank you for helping so much! Helen - for always being willing to answer our questions and the great care you gave! To the care givers - the Personal Assistants To you - we call you family! Mina - MINA! Wow… For me to walk in during his final hours and see you dripping water from a straw into his mouth, whispering into his ear. With the tenderness of a mother, such devotion and not duty, it literally was a shock to me, good very good but still a shock. I know you lost a friend that day. Yolanda - our Pops Guardian Angel You have the fire Elijah! The Spirit of John the Baptist (if I can be so sacrilegious) and our forever watchful eye. Thank you for being there, and I know you also lost a friend that day. Keisha - I know you suffered many of Pops stories. I also know you have such a gentle and tender spirit. Thank you for helping at the doctors offices, feeding him and taking such good care of him! Abby, Hannah and Nicole - you ladies are just awesome and Pop thought the world of you. Always there to help - thank you for the many times I could just walk up and ask you questions right in the middle of what you were doing. It’s not an easy job you ladies do - but you do it with such grace and care. Sheila - We did not have the chance to get to know you much but I know you got to hear Pops many stories. Thank you for being there at the end when I was not able to be there, and of course the excellent care. To all of you I pray that God richly blesses you. Pop was a firm believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus the Messiah and I can assure you that he is in Heaven singing the praises of all you angles that took care of him. To the Staff Management and Ownership of American House - Thank You! M. Hudacko

My mother has been a resident of American House (formerly Elmcroft) for 8 years. She loves it there! The aides are kind and caring toward her, always attentive to her needs; they treat her like she's their mother. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, and it is truly home to her. For me, the staff is easy to work with and talk to. I definitely recommend American House. I wouldn't want my mom anywhere else!
